"...It has been said that an actor must have the hide of a rhinoceros, the courage and audacity of a lion and, most importantly, the fragile vulnerability of an egg.  It also has been said, and I'm not sure by whom, that the moment of not knowing is the moment that has the greatest potential for creativity.  The professional and private lives of most Actors are filled to the brim with moments of not knowing.  Actors are survivors and will continue to strive because they have the need to celebrate, in performance, that sacred communion between Actor and audience."

CYC Theatre: A Place For Growth...

             "...YOUTH THEATRE HAS GROWN UP..."

Originally founded in 2003, California Youth Conservatory (CYC) is an exciting theatre company for young people.  CYC's mission is to provide artistic learning opportunities for young, aspiring performers who wish to build confidence, greater levels of skill and a greater understanding of professional Performing Arts.  CYC provides a safe, diverse, satisfying, fun (yet highly professional) environment for youth to learn the art of stagecraft.  CYC Theatre strives to produce challenging, inclusively diverse projects in addition to traditional musical theatre.   Our goal is to help our students to build character (through hard, satisfying work), lasting friendships and more marketable skill-sets while learning from experienced professionals.  While several new theatre companies try to imitate CYC's programming, style and web content, CYC Theatre was the first (and is the only) youth theatre company in San Diego to regularly employ bona-fide professional performers and teachers to instruct our young actors.  We are very proud of this original, trend-setting model.  CYC Theatre is a federally recognized, California Non-Profit (501c3) organization.
